The Samonas Traditional Villas is a complete neighbourhood located in the village of Samonas, in the district of Apokoronas, at an altitude of 400 m and at a distance of 25 km from Chania. The village still preserves its picturesque character since it is really very small and has very few inhabitants. Their main occupation is stock-raising, agriculture and apiculture. The settlement is built on a hill slope and it has such an orientation that it offers an impressive view from all dwellings. Looking over from the settlement's location, we get the impression that we could touch the Lefka Ori, or dive into the vast Cretan sea.
