Spinalonga Fortress
Description
The island of Spinalonga, was fortified in ancient times, probably during the Hellenistic period, with great fortified enclosure. On the ruins of ancient castle, the Venetians built a powerful fortress, which was designed in accordance with the practice of bastion fortification system by Genese Bressani and Latino Orsini.
